After the storms God gives us rainbows

An arch of color

spreads across a twilight sky

too soon it is gone

The Rainbow

scan0001

The rains came,

our prayers, answered.

Thank you, God

for the rainbow sent;

ribbons of pastel, splashed

across the sky;

too soon disappearing,

 quietly exits;

We bid it farewell,

goodbye.

In Awe at Your Greatness

Like hues reflecting back

splashed across the sky

the earth rebounds,

 and color returns.

We stand in awe

at your greatness, mystified.

How majestic your kingdom;

how great your love,

that you give us a rainbow

in exchange for our sorrow

for the storms now passed

to comfort the broken,

 hurting,  and grieving;

their hearts open, and seeking

in worship and in praise.

You offer up grace

and hope for tomorrow.

“RAINBOWS” – 100 word story for Friday Fictioneers, May 18

Ribbons of pastel stretched across the sky in a half-moon. Sunlight poured out of heaven covering the meadow in a warm blanket. Trees and plants suddenly looked greener, fuller after the summer rain. Robby stood staring up at the rainbows, his mother beside him. “See, mama? They came to cheer you up.” he said. “Don’t worry.” But, his daddy still had no job, and often got grumpy, mean. His mama cried a lot. They had no money, hardly any food left. Robby said a prayer. A short time later, his father burst through the door. “I found a job!”
